Peaceland College of Education Celebrates Unity in Diversity at Cultural Day 2025
Theme: Our Culture, Our Identity
Peaceland College of Education successfully hosted its Cultural Day 2025, a week-long celebration dedicated to showcasing Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and promoting unity among students from diverse ethnic backgrounds.
The programme, which spanned Tuesday, 16th to Friday, 19th December 2025, featured keynote presentations, cultural exhibitions, traditional performances, music, dance, fashion displays, and indigenous cuisines representing major Nigerian ethnic groups.
Keynote Presentations by Cultural Groups
The Cultural Week commenced on Tuesday, 16th December 2025, with a keynote presentation by the Niger Delta Tribe, delivered by Miss Esther and Miss Victoria. Their presentation highlighted the origin, way of life, cultural practices, political structures, and economic relevance of the Niger Delta region, with emphasis on its riverine lifestyle and cultural diversity.
On Wednesday, 17th December 2025, the spotlight moved to the Yoruba Tribe, with an engaging keynote presentation by Miss Praise and Comrade Christabel, The speakers explored Yoruba history, migration, belief systems, festivals, traditional occupations, and geographical spread, effectively capturing the depth and sophistication of Yoruba civilisation.
The Hausa/Fulani Tribe took centre stage on Thursday, 18th December 2025, through a well-structured presentation by Miss Bitrus Nanme and Miss Priceless. Their session focused on the Hausa/Fulani origin, Islamic influence, traditional governance under the emirate system, modes of greeting, popular foods, and distinctive cultural features.
The grand finale, held on Friday, 19th December 2025, featured the Igbo Tribe and marked the peak of the Cultural Day celebration. The presentation was complemented by vibrant drama, dance, fashion displays, traditional rites, and exhibitions that reflected Igbo values, enterprise, and cultural identity.
Cultural Exhibitions and Performances
Beyond the keynote sessions, the Cultural Day featured:
* Traditional dances and drama presentations
* Indigenous fashion and regalia displays
* Cultural food exhibitions
* Music, DJ performances, and compering
* Symbolic cultural enactments that enhanced audience engagement
These activities provided students with experiential learning opportunities while reinforcing appreciation for Nigeria’s cultural plurality.
